DISTRICT CONFERENCE – 3200

A District Conference is not only an opportunity to foster friendship and fellowship but also to reflect on work done and plan for work ahead.
It has a potential of spreading information and activate the hunger for better service.
Above
all, a District Conference is an event for motivation, a platform for the
recognition and a vehicle for promoting Rotary’s thrust for close Rotary
families. A compact, understanding and co-operative Rotary family is the best
weapon for continued service.
As I stand before you at this District Conference, I am amazed by the enthusiasm of your Rotarians that reflects the love for your leaders.
I am also amazed by the phenomenal work put in by the Conference Committee and the extraordinary foresight of DG Narayanswamy, who has rolled out a red carpet for so many dignitaries attending this conference. I am touched by the affection of DG Narayanaswamy and his team who have made my presence here so pleasant.
It is indeed very thoughtful of R I President Wilf Wilkinson to have appointed PDG Gulam Vahanvaty and dear Haseena to represent him and Joan, as their special representative to this Conference. Their dynamism and their love for Rotary will make a telling difference. The couple is a true example of Rotarian – very helping in nature and co-operation is in their blood. They are always there to extend a helping hand even going out of their way. I speak so simply because, I know them well as they are from my District – the Dist: 3140.
A Rotary Conference sometimes becomes a battleground of elections. Elections are bound to be part of a conference. However, if conducted with finesse, transparency and integrity, there will be less heartaches and lesser animosity. I am convinced that your District will be an example to others in the manner you choose your candidates.
